Back in 1991 Dan Gilbert (left) and Fred DaMert (right) wouldn't know that Triazzle, their collaborative new brain-teaser would go on to become one of the best-selling products of its kind. Seventeen years later it has been reborn in over a hundred variations and sold over five-million copies worldwide!
Triazzle was invented by graphic artist and product designer Dan Gilbert on a request from the National Aquarium in Baltimore to create something special for a new exhibit. That puzzle was never released, but a few years later the DaMert Company saw the design and knew it was right for them. Together, they went to work on the first three cardboard puzzles.
Within a few years Gilbert and DaMert had produced dozens of designs in themes such as frogs, insects, space, dinosaurs, fish, and rain forest. Other platforms were also created - Master Triazzle with more pieces, Triazzle Junior for younger children, Star Triazzle, Tiny Triazzle, magnetic Travel Triazzle and others including a CD-ROM version published by Berkeley Systems - the flying toast people.
The deceptively easy-looking puzzle is really "Harder Than it Looks™" and has crossed all markets, appealing equally to all ages. Its beautiful design and thought-provoking challenge has made it a favorite of parents and teachers, and it has been awarded many times by industry and educators.
Triazzle has now made the transition into the mass market. It comes in a distinctive Triazzle-shaped box and is available in both the brain-teaser style as well as unique jigsaws with interlocking triangular pieces. In addition to Gilbert's wildlife designs you will find designs from Christian Lassen, Josephine Wall, Kodak Photography, Disney's Toy Story, Peter Pan, Finding Nemo, Alice in Wonderland and the Simpsons.
